I’m Fernando Turch, a Product Designer who leads design teams to create valuable and memorable digital experiences through user-centered design and rooted in data and testing.

I’ve been working on digital product design, branding and motion graphics since I co-founded the design studio Helmut & Yoyo. After that, I joined Dow Jones and co-lead the Product Design Team at The Wall Street Journal.

Currently, I lead Product Design for Growth at MongoDB. Focused on activation, monetization and retention of Atlas. Partnered with Product and Tech Leads in building an experimentation framework.

2021 - Currently

In 2021, I joined the Product UX team at MongoDB as a Product Design Director. Since then, I have led a diverse team of product designers who focus on providing the best experience at the right moment across the customer journey, creating value for self-serve and enterprise users, and driving business growth. I partner with the product, engineering, and data teams to set the vision and strategy that allow us to meet MongoDB Atlas's activation, monetization, and retention goals.

 

 

The Wall Street Journal

2015 - 2021

My journey at The Wall Street Journal began in 2015 as a Design Director, and in 2019, I was honored with the promotion to VP and Co-Head of Design. Over the course of seven years, I led a team of product designers and played a pivotal role in the WSJ Newsroom's digital transformation initiatives. These included the redesign of all native mobile apps, the development of in-house editorial tools, a complete overhaul of the membership journey, and the launch of off-platform channels like Apple News. During that time, I partnered with product, engineering, editorial, and business stakeholders to deliver award-winning, user-friendly, and data-driven products that informed, engaged, and inspired millions of readers worldwide.

 

 

Helmut & Yoyo

2003 - 2012

I co-founded the design studio Helmut & Yoyo in January 2003 as the Head of Design. For ten years, I oversaw digital product design, branding and motion graphics for brands like Ford, Mazda, TV3, Barcelona Airport and Mobles114.
